Episode #87: The Big Bad Wolf
In fall 2019, I was honored to be a guest on Animals to the Max, a podcast by Corbin Maxey. We recorded the session in early October, and it aired on October 21, 2019. In the episode, called "The Big Bad Wolf", Corbin and I discuss a range of topics about gray wolves. I highlight certain wolf myths like "wolves kill for fun", "the wrong wolf was introduced", and elements of coexisting with large carnivores like wolves. I also discuss predator and prey behavior in certain cases of wolves "surplus killing" elk, trying to help explain the biological reasons for these phenomena instead of the age-old belief that wolves are bloodthirsty spree killers.
